How Exercise Helps Reduce Stress

Even though exercise may not be the most exciting word in your vocabulary, it is a word with a lot of benefits. Participating in daily exercise will not only make you healthier in general, but it can also diminish the effects of stress on your body.

Consider the times you have heard someone say "the doctor says it is stress related". Normally people will laugh it off, concluding that doctors say that when they don't know the real answers and can’t diagnosis the problem. The truth is that too much stress plays a role in many diseases.

To help increase the function of your immune system and decrease your stress level, try exercise. Movement is the key word: bending, stretching, reaching and walking. There's no need to buy expensive equipment. You can move more during your daily routine and reap the benefits.

As you go through your daily activities, make it a point to walk a little farther, squat down and pick something up. Walking is by far the best, as you can easily lose yourself and your troubles when walking. Walking around the block can help eliminate stress.
You can go out for a walk with your exercise partner and enjoy spending time together. Walking is the best overall exercise for your health. The one requirement is a good pair of walking shoes. Alternately, if you like aerobic exercise, you and your partner can have a blast with one of the basic aerobic videos.

While you are sitting, you can do some simple and quick stretches for your neck and shoulders. Consider exercising with a jogging board when you are watching television. These padded boards make running, jumping, or walking in place less stressful on your joints, especially your knees. They are easy to store and very portable. Jogging boards are some of the best pieces of equipment you can buy. They’re also far cheaper than bulky treadmills and stationary bikes.

You decrease your stress by working out at the gym. If your gym has a pool, you may find swimming to be very beneficial because it is relaxing. Afterwards, sitting in the sauna will relieve more tension.
