Harm From Addiction To Exercise

Harm From Addiction to Exercise

Every time you exercise, your brain releases endorphins that produce a feeling of euphoria, which is known as "runners high." It is also very easy to become chemically addicted to these chemicals. You'll feel irritable and out of it without this rush. Therefore, you'll over exercise ignoring your body language that tells you to stop.

The main reason addicts will continue to push themselves lies in what will happen when they don't work out. Normally, when they are unable to exercise, they will display signs of depression, anxiety, confusion, and be less happy with themselves.

Aches and pains from exercise affect the mind and body. Exercise will initially cause pain because you are out of shape and with normal exercise pain will diminish. If you
over exercise it can damage your body. The result can be muscle damage, osteoarthritis, and heart problems. If you push beyond your body’s limit, you'll harm yourself.

People who are new to exercise sometimes become obsessive about it. They are so keen on reaping the benefits that they over do it. The initial sign of over exercising is exhaustion, which can lead to a build up of fatigue. Remember, your muscles and bones are at risk. Many people who exercise push themselves to the point of injuries such as shin splints or even stress fractures, then refuse to rest, which causes greater and sometimes even permanent damage.

Even a brisk walk in the morning doesn't come without risk, as walking too much can lead to osteoarthritis. When you walk, you are working against gravity. Even though you are exercising your muscles, you are also harming your knee joints.

Many people who walk up to an hour or more everyday end up with achy knees. Jogging, and too many sit ups harms the knees. Moderation is the key to exercising without causing injury.

Always start off gradually, and combine several different workouts. Obsessive exercisers forget to do this. One of the biggest mistakes of exercise addicts is that they will tend to perform the same workout every day, which further increases the risk of permanent damage.

You should never work out to the point of complete exhaustion. You should limit exercise to 45-60 minutes for four or five days a week. Your workout should leave you feeling fresh and energetic. Each week you should take a day's break to relax and rejuvenate.

Your attitude is the key to successfully exercising as a way of healthy life. If you only exercise for pleasure ignoring your body’s warnings you’ll defeat the purpose. When you are on the scales you want to weigh less and have more energy. You don’t want to feel exhausted. You don’t want to cause your body harm through exercising.

Take things one day at a time and don't over do it. That is the way to make your body healthy. Exercising can be a lot of fun and a way to relax, if you don't cause damage to your body. Start slowly and gradually work your way up. Before you know it, you’ll know how to prevent injuries before they happen and you'll know exactly what you need to do to remain healthy.
